Yesterday I woke up and felt the same. I was just a little more excited than usual because it was my birthday and I love my birthday. It's just so exciting even if I don't do anything. I went to practice and then my teammates invited me over to hang out while they made "sausage". The "sausage" they made turned out to be funfetti cake and it was soo good! They are the best teammates a girl could ask for!
After that I went home to eat lunch and open presents that my parents got for me. There was two presents wrapped in metallic silver paper sitting on the kitchen table and I was curious to see what was in them. My parents kept asking me what I wanted for my birthday and I told them I wanted to take an LSAT prep course so I was a bit confused when I saw the presents. Prep courses are not easy to wrap. So I opened the first present and it was a bottle of tequila. This gift was chosen by my father. It was more for him than it was for me. Surprise. surprise.
The second gift was a huge box. As I started to unwrap it I thought my parents had gotten me a macbook. I was a little disappointed because I had repeatedly told them that I don't need one. I already have a working lap top. As I continued to rip off the paper I saw something unexpected. There was no apple logos or pictures of a lap top. Instead there was a picture of a brand new kitchen aide stand mixer. It is probably the best gift I have ever received!
The new stand mixer is proof that my mother gets me. She knows that I am not your typical 21 year old. I love baking so much and now that I have this stand mixer I feel legit. Baking is so much easier now! Today alone I baked 5 dozen chocolate chip cookies, a three layer cake, and fudge brownies.
Now that wasn't the end of my 21st birthday. Later that night my cousins took me to happy hour and ordered me a crazy pina colada that they said would taste like a smoothie. It tasted like a smoothie with vodka in it. I didn't like it. So I took a few sips, gave the rest of it to one of my cousins, and ordered a virgin strawberry daiquiri and some nachos.
Drinking isn't my thing. Baking is my thing. And now I will be unstoppable. While most 21 year olds are excited for the prospect of crazy parties and mixed drinks, I am thrilled by the endless possibilities that my new stand mixer will give me. Who knows, maybe this will end up turning into a baking blog. That's a dangerous idea. We'll just have to wait and see.
